I've blogged a couple of times about a situation where I was very hurt by someone that I had worked with and after I left things were said about me that were not only not true & twisted but just plain hurtful. I think one of the most painful things to find out was how I was mocked. Everything that I said or did gave opportunity to be mocked & I was completely unaware & blindsided by what was going on. I had already forgiven this person a long time ago. But still I have been seriously dealing with the pain & hurt of it all & just trying to let go of all of it. Someone else that was also hurt by the same people spoke with me this week about not only her situation, but what happened to me. I have also seen this one particular person several times recently & it has saddened me that our "friendship" was not what I thought.

Last night as I was laying in bed, I was having a conversation with God telling him my hurts over it. I pray for her all the time and know that I forgave her a long time ago. The hurt was just so deep and that is the part I was having trouble with. I felt like the Lord reminded me last night that I am who HE says I am. The fact that mean, untrue & hurtful things were said about me does not change who I am. I felt set free from the burden of the pain and hurt.

There is a wonderful song on Israel Houghton's A Deeper Level Cd called I Know Who I Am. Here are a few lines from that song:

I am accepted, I know who I am

Another part of the songs says "Lord, you are my identity." What a liberating statement.

This song really ministered to me. I know who I am in Christ & because of Him I am alive & set free!!!!!!!!!!!

If everyone could understand that & remember that we are all children of God; I wonder, how different would we treat each other?
