Take me out to the ballgame...

Today was a great day. Kylie was invited to a birthday party at the Dell Diamond, the home of the Round Rock Express, the triple A team of the Houston Astros. The party started early outside the stadium with food, fun and games for the kids; they had a great time.

During the 3rd inning the kids got to run out on the field with the mascot Spike, they showed it on the big screen. Kylie thought that was great!!!

If you look just to the right of the Salt Lick sign, you will see Kylie running in the white shirt!

I think that the best part of the day for Danny was when Kylie ended up with a foul ball. It dropped right over by the party area and she picked it up. He kept giving her "high fives" and telling her "good job". I'm not sure who was more excited, Danny or Kylie.

I couldn't help but get a little teary eyed a couple of times during the game. It brought back so many memories from my childhood. All the sights, smells and sounds, it was amazing!!!! I remember going to Houston Astro and Texas Rangers games when I was growing up with my dad and mom and my grandparents. Granddaddy and Granny would pretty much buy us ANYTHING we wanted to eat. Now, I get to do that for my husband, I mean my kids. I love all the sounds of the music and the opportunities where the crowd could get involved. It was so much fun.

I guess that I get "teary eyed" enjoying that I remember doing things like this with my family growing up and now I get to enjoy it with my husband and children. Please don't tell me that I am the only one that gets emotional like that. Does anyone else do that? Send your comments and let me know.

I do know Kylie was real excited. I could hear it in her voice when she called to tell me about getting the foul ball. Isn't it amazing out the events of one day can create memories for a lifetime? It just doesn't get any better than this.

Best Game Memory was in August of 1985. We were in Houston staying with Aunt Velma and Uncle CJ. They got tickets to the Astros/Reds game. We saw the great Pete Rose play as the Reds crushed the Astros. Pete Rose would break Ty Cobb's record a few weeks later. I became a Reds fan for life. Dad bought me a Reds hat in the pro shop. Great memory.
